Happy New Year to all

The action for 2018 begins tomorrow (Saturday 6th of January) at Riccarton, with an East of Scotland League game against University of Stirling. The Stirling side has never failed to provide a stern test in any previous meeting of the clubs and we look forward to an exciting and entertaining game. Because of the work currently being carried out to provide the John Brydson Arena with a spectator stand (we can’t wait!), the East of Scotland Board has kindly given permission for this game to be staged on the indoor pitch at Oriam, so spectators should make their way to the main entrance. Kick-off is at 3 o’clock.

As mentioned in our pre-Christmas broadcast to the nation, the Under-20 side has a gentle start to the new year, with no match tonight. All other fourteen sides in the Development League are playing (see the East of Scotland website for details), but having been due to take on Preston Athletic, the club which pulled out after fixtures had been cast, the Watt is the odd-one-out of the fifteen remaining clubs and will play its first game of the year next Friday at New Tinto Park, Glasgow (home of Benburb Juniors), which is this season’s home venue for the nomadic Edusport Academy. Watt will be without influential midfielder Jackson Barker, who is suspended for this match, but otherwise should be close to full strength.

The Reserves have no fixture this weekend.
