Under-20s return to top of Development League

After being deposed by Whitehill Welfare on Friday, Heriot-Watt’s Under-20 team went back to the top of the Lowland & East of Scotland Under-20 Development League this evening with a 3 – 0 victory over a capable and determined Edinburgh City side.

After a competitive but goalless first half in which the visitors were a little quicker to the ball and gave the Watt their hands full, the second half belonged to the home side and after Anton Dowds had opened the scoring with a drive from the edge of the area, headed goals from Chris Lane and Cammie Ross confirmed that the points would be staying at Riccarton.

Next up for the Under-20s as they continue their title quest is a visit from Mid-Annandale this Friday (kick-off 8 o’clock).

Respect also to the eight players who travelled through to Motherwell to enable the Watt to fulfil its obligation to play Carluke Hearts in Lothian West Division. With a full side, the Watt would have fancied its chances in this game, but of course the eight knew they were going to the slaughter. They got a goal, though, in the course of a heavy defeat.
