Four more games for Under-20s to seek Development League title

The Heriot-Watt Under-20 side took another step towards the Development League title last night with a 6 – 0 win over bottom team Mid-Annandale. The Watt side now leads the league by four points from The Spartans and Whitehill Welfare, with a game in hand over both, but all four league matches the side has still to play are really tough ones. Three wins would be enough to guarantee the title comes to Riccarton, but as the games are against Spartans, Whitehill Welfare, University of Stirling and Bonnyton Thistle, nothing can be taken for granted.

The team to look out for could well be Cumbernauld Colts, which claimed the points against the Watt with a late goal last Friday and which, although ten points behind Watt, still has six games left to play, with Edinburgh City the only opponent in the top half of the table. Colts can still make 53 points, with the Watt’s maximum possible only four more, so victories in the tough forthcoming fixtures are necessary if Heriot-Watt is to secure the championship.

Before all that, on Monday evening, the Watt team has an important cup tie to play, when they will take on The Spartans at Ainslie Park in the Semi-final of the Under-20 Knock Out Cup (kick-off 7.45).
