That’s Camelon over with – now let’s try to get some league points chalked up

Saturday’s trip to Carmuirs Park to face Camelon Juniors was a tough one for a threadbare Watt squad.  Two more players  – Arran Singh and Haydn Jamieson – made their first start in a Watt strip as it remained easier to say who was still available than who wasn’t, but the Watt played resiliently and kept a good shape, going down 4 – 1 in the end to the former East Junior Superleague side.  The Watt goal came late in the game, but it was worth waiting for, Frewen Hutcheson cutting in from the right to slam a low shot across goalkeeper Dean Shaw into the far corner of the net.

We take a breather now until next Saturday, when the Watt will be at home in League Conference C to the newcomer which isn’t a former Junior side:  Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts (kick-off 3 o’clock).  The Swifts have had a mixed time of it so far, with 10 – 0 defeats to both Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic and Linlithgow Rose interspersed with a good away win over Stirling University and, on Saturday, a 2 – 0 win over Hawick Royal Albert in the Football Nation Qualifying Cup.  It looks hard to predict a score for Saturday’s game, but Swifts have had the winning feeling twice so far and the Watt has yet to experience it this season.  It is vital for the Club to get points on the board early in the season before meetings with the really big guns we’ve yet to play.
