Community partners visit Oriam

Heriot-Watt’s community club partner, Currie Star, visited the indoor arena at Oriam last night for a training match against the Watt’s Under-20 side.  In an entertaining match, the Star side, which competes at Under-19 level, turned in a good display, pushing the Watt team all the way and losing out by a single goal, with the final score 3 – 2 to the hosts.

Two close-range finishes by Ronan Dowds had given the Watt lads a first-half lead, but a well-taken goal by the visitors’ number 8 reduced the leeway and although a sweeping move ended in a good finish by triallist Ethan Stevens to restore the two-goal lead early in the second half, another goal for Star kept the pressure on the home side for the remainder of the match.

It was a worthwhile work-out for both sides, well appreciated by a good attendance of spectators.
